The Pay for Only 10

This summer, all current and incoming UCSC and UC undergraduates will only pay for 10 credits for summer tuition. This means UC students can take more classes but pay for only 10 credits in tuition, making it less expensive to make degree progress this summer. Find out more about this program, which is new for summer 2023!

UCSC student conducts coastal research

UCSC’s new Career Development Opportunity Fund, launched in spring 2023, provides funding for unpaid career-relevant experiential learning and professional development. Students may apply for as much funding as they need. Deadline to apply is May 1.

Rebecca Hernandez is the university’s first community archivist.

UCSC recently hosted its first Land Acknowledgment event, recognizing the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band and its place in the local history of the land and the creation of the campus.

Computational media Ph.D. student Kevin Weatherwax's research is supported through the Piatt Fellowship, a scholarship for doctoral students from Santa Cruz County.

Louie Campos (Oakes ’73, community studies)

Pioneer alumnus Louie Campos related to Oakes College’s commitment to intellectual, academic, and personal inquiry rooted in the possibility of affecting positive social and political change—which he says still holds true with him.

UCSC alumna Kim Bernice Nguyen has announced a run for Congress.

A daughter of a Vietnamese refugee and a Mexican immigrant, Kim Bernice Nguyen advocates for her community as the youngest person to hold a seat on the Garden Grove City Council. In January, Nguyen announced her run for Congress.
